Join Canon Britt, Pastor Bryon and Canon Carla Robinson for a 9 day pilgrimage from Atlanta to Memphis, stopping at the iconic sites where the Civil Rights Movement and the current fight for racial justice continue. This all-inclusive trip is open to members, friends, family and traveling companions. The trip is very personalized and unique, with contacts and locations chosen by the trip leaders. For information and registration, visit circlesofcolor.org/crpilgrimage/ or contact Canon Britt Olson at [email protected].
Pilgrimage highlights include:
- MLK Jr National Historical Park
- Absalom Jones Center
- National Voting Rights Museum
- Brown Chapel AME Church
- National Memorial for Peace & Justice
- Birmingham Civil Rights Institute
- 16th St. Baptist Church
- National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel
Our nation, community, and churches have experienced generations of racial injustice and inequity. Responses like the Civil Rights Movement, Black Lives Matter, and the backlash to them continue to shape our identity. This Pilgrimage is rooted in the movements for racial justice and the people of courage who have gone before us. We will walk in their footsteps as we strengthen our own commitment, as stated in the Baptismal Covenant, to “strive for justice and peace among all people and to respect the dignity of every human being.”
Diocese of Olympia Circles of Color members and young adults are encouraged to participate. Some scholarship money is available upon application.
